Accessibility

A Sustainable Location

Wendover is recognised as one of Buckinghamshire’s most sustainable settlements, offering a wide range of services, schools, shops, healthcare facilities and community amenities.

The site is within easy reach of Wendover railway station, which provides regular services to London and Aylesbury, helping to reduce reliance on private car travel. Existing pedestrian routes and public rights of way also provide opportunities to improve walking and cycling connections both within the site and to the wider village. As part of the emerging proposals, a Mobility Hub is being proposed onsite that will be accessible for both existing and future residents.

Locating new homes in places where services and facilities already exist is a key part of creating sustainable communities and reducing the need to travel longer distances for everyday activities.

Affordability

Homes for Local People

Buckinghamshire faces an ongoing need for new homes, particularly affordable housing.

The proposals for Wendover Springs include up to 300 homes, with 50% affordable housing proposed. The development would provide a mix of homes suitable for people at different stages of life, helping young people, families and older residents remain within the local area.

By delivering a range of housing types and tenures, the proposals seek to support a balanced and thriving community while helping address local housing needs.

Ecology

Putting Nature First

The landscape surrounding the site is one of its greatest assets and has helped shape the emerging proposals from the outset.

The development will retain and enhance existing trees, hedgerows and green corridors wherever possible, creating a network of habitats that support biodiversity and strengthen ecological connectivity across the site.

New planting, habitat creation and biodiversity enhancements will form part of the overall masterplan, delivering measurable improvements for wildlife alongside new publicly accessible green spaces.

All of the land is currently privately owned and largely inaccessible to the wider public.

The proposals provide an opportunity to create extensive areas of publicly accessible open space, allowing both existing and future residents to enjoy new walking routes, informal recreation areas and connections to the surrounding landscape.

These green spaces will not only enhance health and wellbeing but also help strengthen links between the development and the wider community.
